Master of Laws - Criminal Law & Criminal Justice

 

 

Patrick has been a Queensland Police Officer for the past 23 years.  Presently he is a Sergeant stationed at Hervey Bay Police-Citizens Youth Club as Branch Manager.  He has served at numerous police  stations in Brisbane, at Maroochydore and worked at the missing persons bureau.  He has also managed two other PCYC’s in Brisbane and worked for 4 years for the Department of Families as a Youth Support Officer.

 

The PCYC in Hervey Bay that Patrick manages has over 2300 annual members and 33 varied sports, recreation, community and welfare programs for people of all ages.  It is the largest sporting community centre in the Wide Bay area with over 50 employees and 70 registered volunteers.

 

Patrick was a member of District 9570 Rotary Group Study Exchange team that travelled to Boston during 2003, exchanging information with numerous police agencies and boys and girls clubs of America.  He has a masters degree in business administration and various other management degrees.

 

The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship awarded to Patrick is to study a Master of Laws – criminal law and criminal justice degree at the University of Leeds, England.  The aims of this course are to gain an understanding of the nature, purposes, ideologies of the criminal justice systems through research methodologies, and practice techniques.  It will entail the social science study and research of measuring crime, its nature and impact, by who and why crime is committed and society’s response.
